Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen) July 29: Justice (Retd) Biswanath Rath, chairman of the high-level inspection committee for the Ratna Bhandar of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, announced on Monday that the latest technology will be employed to ensure the safety of the structure during its repair. This approach aims to address any concerns and preserve the integrity of the 12th-century shrine.
In a crucial meeting held in Puri, Justice Rath emphasized that protecting and preserving the temple’s structure will be the top priority during the repair process. He explained that before any repair work begins, all cupboards and chests inside Ratna Bhandar will be moved. The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) will designate a suitable room for this purpose. The entire Ratna Bhandar will be emptied to facilitate repairs, a procedure not previously included in the standard operating procedures (SOP).
Justice Rath also noted that state-of-the-art technology and non-destructive methods will be used for a thorough inspection before repairs commence. If new findings emerge, appropriate measures will be taken based on the situation. The committee has recommended updating the SOP, which will be submitted to the state government for approval. Inventory work will proceed only after the repairs are completed.
