AIIMS: 70-year-old patient discovered hanging at AIIMS Bhubaneswar

AIIMS: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 17: In a tragic and mysterious incident, the body of a 70-year-old patient was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in the Orthopaedic ward of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar. The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Sahu, a resident of Atalapur village in Jajpur district, who had been recently admitted to the hospital.

Reports indicate that the body was found around midnight, raising questions about the circumstances leading to this shocking event. Sahu had been admitted to the hospital on December 5, but the reasons behind his drastic action remain unclear.

Following the discovery, police were notified and promptly seized the body, sending it for a post-mortem examination. An investigation is currently underway, with police interrogating Sahu’s daughter, other patients in the ward, and hospital staff to gather more information.

Hospital authorities stated that the exact cause of death would be determined after the autopsy results are received. Furthermore, a six-member team has been formed by AIIMS to conduct an internal probe into the incident, with officials asserting that there was no negligence on the part of the staff involved.
