Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 26: (Apartment Loot) In another burglary incident in Bhubaneswar, looters struck an apartment in the Bomikhal area, making off with gold ornaments and cash belonging to a local woman. Sources indicate that the thieves took the woman’s wedding ring and four gold earrings while she was at work. They also stole ₹16,000 in cash that she had withdrawn for personal expenses.
The fresh incident took place close on the heels of loot in which a scientist lost over half one kg of gold ornaments from his luxurious apartment in the Chandaka area of the capital city.
The burglars have been targeting houses when the occupants are normally away in office.
In the fresh incident, the woman, identified as S Triveni, locked her flat and left for the office at around 10 am. Taking advantage of her absence, the looters broke the lock and entered her house around noon and looted all her belongings.
On being informed about the incident, a team from Shaheed Nagar police station visited the spot and launched a probe.
