He has been appointed to this position by the state government for the next six years. Currently, he is serving as the Director of Biju Patnaik Police Academy.

After stepping down from his additional duties as the Director General of Police (DGP) of the state, he has been given this important responsibility. Alongside his role as the Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy, on December 31, 2023, he took on additional duties as the DGP.

During his seven-month tenure as DGP, Odisha Police, under the leadership of Arun Sarangi, successfully conducted peaceful and impartial general elections. The world-renowned Puri Rath Yatra was also concluded safely under his guidance. Notably, for the first time in 26 years, elections in Odisha were free from Maoist violence.
