Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi joins JPC for Waqf Amendment Bill

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 19: Lok Sabha Member from Bhubaneswar, Aparajita Sarangi, has been nominated to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024. Upon receiving the nomination, Sarangi expressed her honor on the micro-blogging platform X, stating: “I am honored to be part of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on ‘THE WAQF (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2024’ in the Lok Sabha today. I will put in my best efforts.”

The proposal to establish the JPC, along with its member nominations, was introduced by Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju earlier this month in the Lok Sabha.

The JPC includes BJP MPs Jagdambika Pal, Nishikant Dubey, Tejasvi Surya, Aparajita Sarangi, Sanjay Jaiswal, Dilip Saikia, Abhijit Gangopadhyay, and DK Aruna. Congress MPs Gaurav Gogoi, Imran Masood, and Mohammad Jawed, along with Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee, are also members.

Rajya Sabha members on the JPC include Brij Lal, Dr. Medha Vishram Kulkarni, Gulam Ali, Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, Syed Naseer Hussain, Mohammed Nadeem Ul Haq, V. Vijayasai Reddy, M. Mohamed Abdulla, Sanjay Singh, and Dr. Dharmasthala Veerendra Heggade.
