Bhubaneswar news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 24: Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das issued a stern warning on Tuesday, stating that unregistered vendors operating in makeshift structures will no longer be allowed to open their shops. The Mayor announced that these unauthorized stalls will be evicted soon as part of a broader initiative to enhance the city’s cleanliness and organization.
During a mass cleaning program at CRPF Square, Mayor Das emphasized that unregistered vending structures will be removed from all 55 main road stretches in Bhubaneswar. “Despite repeated warnings, these vendors continue to set up stalls across the city. All such shops will be removed. Registered vendors with the Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation (BMC) will be provided permanent shops in designated vending zones,” she stated.
She further stressed that even shop owners in permanent vending zones must adhere to cleanliness guidelines and utilize dustbins to maintain hygiene.
This initiative is part of an accelerated cleanliness drive and beautification efforts in preparation for the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) conference, scheduled from January 8-10, which is expected to draw over 5,500 delegates.
Mayor Das remarked, “These efforts reflect our tradition of cleaning our homes before welcoming guests, showcasing our culture and commitment to a cleaner Bhubaneswar.”
