Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen),Aug 12: Bitti Hottra Mohanty, the son of Odisha’s former Director-General of Police Bidya Bhusan Mohanty, has passed away in Bhubaneswar.
Bitti Hotra, who was convicted in 2006 for raping a German tourist in Alwar, Rajasthan, died while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar early Monday morning. According to AIIMS officials, Hotra had been suffering from stomach cancer and was admitted to the hospital approximately six weeks ago after experiencing bleeding.
A senior official from AIIMS Bhubaneswar stated that Hotra was receiving supportive treatment during his stay. His case gained significant attention when he was convicted by the Fast Track Trial Court in Alwar just 15 days after his arrest on April 12, 2006.
Following his conviction, Hotra absconded after being granted parole but was later re-arrested in 2013 by Kerala Police. He was captured after submitting forged documents to secure a bank job in Thiruvananthapuram.
