BJD Foundation Day: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 26: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly gaining power in Odisha through false promises, stating that the price rise has been the most significant impact of the Mohan Majhi government in the past six months.
Speaking to party workers and leaders during BJD’s 28th foundation day celebration in Bhubaneswar, the former Chief Minister expressed his commitment to serving the people of Odisha for the next century.
Patnaik asserted that the BJD has established the identity of an empowered state in Odisha. “As a strong regional party, BJD will continue to safeguard the interests of Odisha and its people while fighting against injustice from the Centre,” he said.
Addressing the party’s defeat in the last elections, Patnaik acknowledged the public’s concerns about the BJD’s performance, asserting, “In my view, we did not lose; we did not lose the trust of the people.” He launched a strong attack on the BJP, claiming the party came to power through deception and false promises, yet still received fewer votes than the BJD.
“Our mistake was failing to adequately counter their lies and negative campaign on social media,” he admitted. He urged party workers to remain active online and to effectively challenge the BJP’s misleading narratives, emphasizing that the people of Odisha have realized the truth behind the BJP’s rise to power.3
