bomb threats: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 24: A high alert was declared at both Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar and Veer Surendra Sai Airport (VSSA) in Jharsuguda on Thursday following bomb threat calls that raised safety concerns.
In light of the threats, airport authorities heightened security protocols at both airports. At BPIA, dog squads and bomb disposal units were deployed to conduct thorough inspections. BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan informed the media that a non-specific bomb threat had been received but was subsequently confirmed as a hoax after rigorous security checks. He reassured the public that all necessary safety protocols were being diligently followed to ensure passenger safety.
At VSSA, Director Sandip Kumar Tiwari reported that a bomb threat related to an Indigo flight from Bengaluru to Jharsuguda had surfaced on social media. In response, a comprehensive security inspection was conducted, and after clearance, the aircraft was permitted to continue its return flight to Bengaluru.
