Cold weather continues in Odisha, with several areas recording below 15°C

Cold weather: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 13: Rourkela recorded the coldest temperature in Odisha over the past 24 hours, dropping to 8.1 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Following closely behind were G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal district, at 8.4 degrees Celsius, and Jharsuguda at 9.8 degrees Celsius.

This morning, dense fog enveloped Rourkela, Koraput, and Phulbani, significantly reducing visibility to just 50 meters. Meanwhile, the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also experienced chilly conditions, with temperatures falling below 15 degrees Celsius. Bhubaneswar recorded a low of 14.5 degrees Celsius, while Cuttack was slightly cooler at 13.4 degrees Celsius.

Several other locations reported temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius, including Phulbani (10°C), Daringbadi (11°C), and various places in districts like Sonepur, Angul, and Kalahandi.

The IMD has issued a warning for dense fog in parts of Sundargarh, Koraput, and Kandhamal until Saturday morning, with shallow to moderate fog expected in Jharsuguda, Ganjam, and Kalahandi until Sunday. The minimum temperature is anticipated to remain stable over the next three days, with a gradual rise of 2-4 degrees Celsius expected thereafter.
