Couple killed, child survives in Nabarangpur road accident

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen),Aug 12: A tragic accident on Monday morning in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district claimed the lives of a couple, while their nine-year-old son narrowly escaped serious injury.

The victims, Ajit Majumdar and Deepika Majumdar, residents of Parichipara village, were riding their motorcycle near Rabanaguda Chhak under the Kundei police limits when a truck collided with them. The Majumdars were returning home after offering water, which they had fetched from Sihawa in neighboring Chhattisgarh, at a Shiva temple near Hatabharandi.

The collision occurred when the truck, coming from the opposite direction, struck their motorcycle, killing them instantly. Following the accident, enraged locals staged a protest, demanding justice and better road safety measures. The police promptly arrived at the scene, calming the protesters.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The surviving child was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical check-up.
