crime news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 3: A gang of armed robbers executed a daring daylight heist at the Manappuram Gold Loan office located on Budharaja Main Road in Sambalpur, Odisha, on Friday, making off with approximately 30 kg of gold valued at over Rs 20 crore.

According to reports, around 10 masked robbers arrived at the office shortly after it opened at 9:40 AM on five motorcycles. Armed with firearms and sharp weapons, they stormed the premises, swiftly taking control of the situation. The robbers tied up the employees with cello tape, ensuring they could not raise the alarm while they looted the office’s gold jewelry and cash stored in a locker.

Following the incident, the Inspector General (IG) and Sambalpur Superintendent of Police (SP) arrived at the crime scene to oversee the investigation. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and interrogating employees to gather any clues about the robbers.

Furthermore, all exit and entry points to the town have been sealed off, and nearby police outposts have been alerted about the brazen robbery. Preliminary investigations suggest that the robbers, who spoke in Hindi, may have taken the Ainthapali road towards Bargarh after the heist.
