Crime News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 29: A hotel owner, Sanjeev Kumar Mohapatra, was critically injured in a brutal attack by unidentified assailants armed with swords at Samalpur square in Balasore district on Friday. Mohapatra sustained severe injuries to his head, back, and hands and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.

Reports indicate that Mohapatra was on his way to his hotel when six to seven miscreants intercepted his vehicle near Samalpur square. Without warning, they launched a violent attack before fleeing the scene. Mohapatra’s driver played a crucial role in his rescue, quickly taking him to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital and notifying his family about the incident.

Local police arrived promptly at the scene to initiate an investigation, but the identities of the attackers and their motives remain unclear. Sources suggest that some youths had visited Mohapatra’s residence earlier that morning to discuss a matter, but he had declined their request, citing that he was busy. This incident has raised concerns among local residents about safety and security in the area, highlighting the need for increased vigilance.
