Crime news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 8: The Mahila Police in Bhubaneswar today detained Samir Mansoor, a Kashmiri Muslim youth, for allegedly blackmailing a Hindu woman from Jagatsinghpur, Odisha, using an obscene video. Mansoor was arrested after arriving in Bhubaneswar from Kashmir.
According to the woman’s lawyer, she met a man named Samir on a gaming site about two years ago, and they exchanged phone numbers. Samir later visited Odisha and took her to Puri, where she discovered he was a Muslim. The woman claimed that when she refused to take their relationship further, he forced her into a physical encounter and filmed the intimate moments. He then pressured her to convert to his religion and marry him, threatening to make the videos public if she refused.
Mansoor allegedly extorted Rs 5 lakh from her parents by threatening to upload the videos to a porn site. He also insisted on taking her to Kashmir. Distressed, the woman filed a police complaint.
The victim shared that Samir is originally from Bihar and works in Kashmir. “I learned he was a Muslim about 6-7 months after we began talking. He has been mentally tormenting me and my family ever since,” she said.
