crime news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 8: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was arrested on Wednesday in Bhubaneswar for allegedly misbehaving with a young girl under the guise of helping her. The accused, identified as Niranjan Jena, was taken into custody by the Government Railway Police (GRP) after the girl filed a formal complaint.

The incident unfolded on Monday when the girl, a resident of Jagatsinghpur district, arrived at the Bhubaneswar railway station but discovered that her hostel was closed. Feeling vulnerable and alone, she sought assistance from the RPF personnel present at the station. Jena, noticing her predicament, offered to arrange accommodation for her within the station premises.

However, when the girl entered a room with Jena, he allegedly locked the door from the inside and attempted to misbehave with her. Sensing danger, the girl managed to contact the police control room, which led to her swift rescue. Following the incident, she formally reported the assault, prompting the GRP to arrest Jena. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are looking into the matter further.
