cyclone Dana: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 24: As the severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ approaches the Odisha coast, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi convened an urgent review meeting on Thursday to assess the situation and the preparedness measures in place. The meeting took place at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and included key officials such as Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, DGP Y.B. Khurania, and other top officials.
During the meeting, officials briefed the Chief Minister on the arrangements made across various districts to ensure public safety. Senior representatives from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) provided updates on the storm’s latest trajectory.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to leave no stone unturned in preventing casualties during the cyclone and instructed officials to prioritize the rapid restoration of power and communication services in the storm’s aftermath. He stressed that relief and restoration efforts must proceed on a war footing.
In preparation for Cyclone Dana, the Odisha government is evacuating over one million people from vulnerable areas to relief shelters established in different districts. The cyclone is expected to make landfall between Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara and Dhamra in Bhadrak district by Friday morning.
