Cyclone Dana: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 26: Four officials from the Odisha government have been suspended for neglecting their duties and mistreating the public during Cyclone Dana.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari announced the suspensions on Saturday, identifying the officials as three Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) and one Revenue Inspector (RI). “They have been suspended for their dereliction of duty during Cyclone Dana, and their behavior towards the public was unacceptable,” he told reporters.

In addition to these suspensions, reports have been requested from district collectors concerning other employees who may have violated government rules in various districts. An investigation is currently underway.

Minister Pujari emphasized that government officials who effectively served the community during the emergency will be recognized and commended, while those who neglected their responsibilities will face consequences. He also highlighted that the government is now focused on rehabilitating affected individuals, with plans to commence once a comprehensive survey of the cyclone damage has been completed. Officers have been instructed to ensure accurate assessments during this process.
