Debalaya Yojana: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 28: The Odisha government is planning to introduce a new scheme called ‘Debalaya Yojana’ to ensure the effective conservation, restoration, and management of temples and mutts across the state. Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan disclosed the initiative on Monday, stating that the scheme will comprehensively address the challenges faced by religious institutions.

The Debalaya Yojana will go beyond basic repairs, focusing on the proper functioning and sustainable management of temples. “The new scheme will resolve issues related to maintenance, restoration, and administration that temple authorities have long struggled with,” the Minister said.

Harichandan pointed out that the ABADHA scheme launched by the previous BJD government primarily dealt with temple repairs. However, Debalaya Yojana aims to tackle a broader range of concerns, including governance and operational management.

The government is currently preparing a blueprint for the initiative, and the first phase will address key issues such as repair, restoration, and management of temple properties, the Minister added.
