New Delhi.: Former wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has selected his best Indian playing 11 for all three formats of cricket. Karthik included five specialist batsmen, two all-rounders, two spinners and two fast bowlers in his team.
Karthik told Cricbuzz that his team includes two great batsmen of the modern era, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. However, Karthik ignored former captain Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni, who took Indian cricket to great heights.
Which batsmen got a place
Dinesh Karthik gave place to Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma as openers in his team. Sehwag’s strike rate in white ball format was more than 100 while his strike rate in Tests was 82.23. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma made his reputation as an opener after 2013 and became one of the best openers in the world.
Wall, God and King in the middle order
Dinesh Karthik chose former Indian coach Rahul Dravid for number-3. Sachin Tendulkar was placed at number-4. Dravid-Tendulkar do not need any introduction. On the other hand, Karthik chose Virat Kohli for the fifth position. Kohli is closest to breaking the record of the great Sachin Tendulkar.
Left-handed all-rounders
Former RCB wicketkeeper batsman has included Yuvraj Singh and Ravindra Jadeja in his team as all-rounders. Yuvraj Singh played an important role in the 2007 and 2011 World Cups. Jadeja performed economically for the Indian team in all formats in a decade.
Ashwin preferred over Bhajji
Dinesh Karthik chose Ravichandran Ashwin and Anil Kumble as spinners. Karthik surprised everyone by preferring Ashwin over Harbhajan Singh, but this decision was probably taken considering the number of wickets taken by Ashwin. By the way, Karthik has chosen Bhajji as the 12th player of his team.
Nock pace attack
After this, Dinesh Karthik has expressed confidence in Zaheer Khan and Jaspreet Bumrah as fast bowlers. Bumrah is one of the best bowlers of the modern era and Zaheer Khan had created fear in the minds of batsmen in his time.
