dog attack: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 14: In a tragic incident, an elderly woman was mauled to death by a stray dog in Jayanarayanpur village, located under the Bhograi block of Odisha’s Balasore district, on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Basanti Sahu, was sitting outside her home when the stray dog suddenly attacked her. The woman suffered severe injuries from the attack and screamed for help.
Her family members, upon hearing her cries, rushed to her aid and managed to kill the dog while trying to rescue her. Despite their efforts, Basanti succumbed to her injuries, leaving her family and the local community devastated.
The incident has sparked outrage among villagers, who have demanded financial assistance for the bereaved family. In response, the local Tehsildar has assured that a team will be sent to the spot to conduct an inquiry into the incident. Authorities are expected to take appropriate measures based on the findings of the investigation. The tragedy has highlighted the growing concern over stray animal attacks in the area.
