Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 28: A 26-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances in Jharadiha village under Kundeigola police limits in Deogarh district, sparking concerns of domestic violence. The deceased has been identified as Chanchala, daughter of Ramesh Majhi.
According to reports, Chanchala’s husband, Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan, had a history of physically abusing her. The couple, who had three children together, were frequently heard arguing by their neighbors.
On Thursday, Bibhuti allegedly assaulted Chanchala severely for an unknown reason. She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Chhatabar Hospital. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Following her death, the accused husband abandoned their three children beside their mother’s lifeless body at the hospital and fled the scene. Heart-wrenching visuals emerged of the children mourning beside their deceased mother throughout the night.
Upon receiving information, Riamal police took custody of the body and launched an investigation. Authorities have intensified efforts to track down the absconding husband. The incident has once again highlighted the grim reality of domestic violence, prompting demands for stricter action against perpetrators.
