Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 8: On Sunday, a tragic incident occurred in Kuligan village, Balasore district, Odisha, where an eleven-year-old boy drowned and his younger brother remains in critical condition.
The mishap happened during the immersion ceremony of Lord Ganesh at a village pond, where several children were participating.
According to preliminary reports, the two brothers, Pratyush Ranjan Rout, aged eleven, and his eight-year-old brother Satyajit, slipped into the deep water and drowned. Locals quickly retrieved them from the pond and rushed them to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Khandapada.
Sadly, Pratyush was pronounced dead upon arrival. Satyajit is currently receiving treatment and his condition is reported to be critical.
The incident has cast a shadow over the Ganesh immersion festivities in the area.
