Durga Puja: Gold ornaments worth 15 lakhs stolen from Puja Mandap

Durga Puja: Bhubaneswar (Reporterspen), Oct. 12: Gold ornaments worth 15 lakhs belonging to the goddess have been stolen from a puja mandap. The theft is reported to have taken place at the Bengali Sahi Durga Mandap in Barundei under Korei police station in Jajpur. A complaint has been filed at the Korei police station regarding the incident.

Last night, after dinner, the committee members and the priest slept inside the temple. Around 2 AM, the committee members and the priest noticed that the main door of the temple was open. Later, they discovered that all the gold and silver ornaments of the goddess had been stolen. The priest and the committee members who were sleeping inside informed the Korei police about the incident.

It has been reported at the Korei police station that the stolen ornaments include the goddess’s necklace, crown, trident, earrings, nose ring, and other gold and silver jewelry, amounting to approximately 15 lakhs. The police are investigating the matter.
