Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 13: Sprinter Dutee Chand narrowly escaped injury after a truck collided with her BMW car near OMP Square in Cuttack, Odisha, on Thursday evening. The incident occurred as Dutee was returning to Bhubaneswar from Jajpur, accompanied by a female friend. The impact of the crash resulted in significant damage to her vehicle.
Following the accident, Dutee displayed remarkable courage by chasing down the fleeing truck, managing to stop it near the Kathajori Bridge. Once she halted the truck, she promptly contacted the police for assistance. The Madhupatna Police arrived quickly at the scene and detained the truck driver for questioning regarding the incident.
Dutee recounted her experience, stating, “The truck driver started honking aggressively near OMP Square. Despite giving way, he deliberately rammed into our car and attempted to flee. I pursued him down to Kathajori Bridge and called the police.” She also alleged that the driver verbally abused them and behaved inappropriately during the encounter, further complicating an already distressing situation for the athlete.
