Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 14: An employee of the Common Service Centre (CSC) was arrested in Titilagarh, Balangir district, Odisha, on Saturday for allegedly soliciting money to facilitate the registration and application process for the Subhadra Yojana.
The accused, Akash Sahu from Manigaon village, was apprehended by the police for allegedly demanding between Rs 100 and Rs 130 from women applicants for the registration process and providing application forms.
The issue came to light after the Titilagarh BDO filed a complaint with the police. Following the complaint, a case was registered, and Akash was arrested after a preliminary investigation revealed the charges.
The complaint alleged that the accused was charging Rs 100 per applicant for a registration process that is supposed to be free of cost. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are committed to taking action against others involved in similar fraudulent activities, according to a senior police official.
Earlier, on Friday, police in Bhubaneswar had arrested three individuals for allegedly charging fees for application forms and registration under the Subhadra Yojana.
