Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), April 26: The survey work for the proposed Metro Railway in Bhubaneswar kicked off on Friday, initiated by the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation. Stretching from Vani Vihar to Sishu Bhawan Square, the survey aimed to gather essential data for the ambitious project’s planning and execution.

A specialized team comprising members from various organizations, including the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited, and others, collaborated to conduct the survey. The endeavor took place during the morning hours to mitigate the impact of the prevailing heatwave conditions in the region.

The survey encompassed a thorough examination of infrastructure elements such as electricity poles, water pipes, telephone lines, and gas pipelines within the proposed metro station areas.

The envisaged 26-km metro railway line is slated to connect Bhubaneswar Airport to Trishulia in Cuttack at an estimated cost of Rs 8,000 crore. Elevated tracks supported by 450 pillars will define the metro railway’s route. The initial phase of the project will include five stations: Master Canteen, Vani Vihar, Jaydev Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Patia, and Nandankanan.

Once operational, the metro railway is expected to significantly alleviate the travel challenges faced by commuters, reducing travel time between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to just 15 minutes, thereby enhancing connectivity and convenience for the public.
