Commissionerate Police bolsters security for phase III polling

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), May 22: In anticipation of Phase III of the Odisha elections slated for May 25, the Commissionerate Police has bolstered security measures in the state capital to prevent any potential violence during polling.

Sources indicate that police have ramped up security at 1,132 polling booths in Bhubaneswar, falling under the jurisdiction of the Commissionerate Police, to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. Special attention has been directed towards 145 sensitive booths and 421 Sakhi booths in Bhubaneswar, with 525 polling booths set to undergo webcasting for enhanced monitoring.

To uphold the sanctity of the elections, the Commissionerate Police has deployed 15 flying squads and 15 strategic surveillance teams to preempt any instances of violence. Additionally, CRPF personnel will be stationed at sensitive booths to fortify security measures. Security protocols will be further intensified post the conclusion of poll campaigning on May 23 evening.

Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda emphasized, “Polling will take place across five assembly constituencies in Bhubaneswar. Among the 1,132 polling booths, 145 have been identified as sensitive. CRPF personnel will be stationed at these booths. With the aim of ensuring violence-free elections, 15 flying squads and 15 strategic surveillance teams are operational round-the-clock. We will escalate security checks post the campaign conclusion.”
