Odisha IPS officer Sapna Tewari appointed Special Director in Intelligence Bureau

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), April 19: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has greenlit the appointment of Odisha-cadre IPS officer Sapna Tewari as the Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Tewari, a 1992-batch officer, presently serves as Additional Director in the IB.

As per the order from the Personnel Ministry, Tewari’s appointment as Special Director is effective for a tenure of two years from assuming the post or until her superannuation on April 30, 2026.
Furthermore, on March 7, the Odisha government promoted Tewari to the rank of Director General (DG) of Police.

In another development, the ACC has also approved Nalin Prabhat, a 1992-batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, to lead the National Security Guard (NSG), the country’s counter-terrorism force. Prabhat, currently serving as Additional Director General in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), will hold the position of Director General, NSG, until August 31, 2028, which marks his superannuation date.

Previously, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) chief Daljit Singh Chawdhary was handling the additional charge of the NSG.
