Veteran Congress leader Damburudhara Ulaka passes away at 87

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), May 15: Veteran Congress leader and former Odisha Minister, Damburudhara Ulaka, passed away on Tuesday night at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was 87 years old.

Nilamadhav Ulaka, his son, shared, “My father had been unwell for a considerable period and was receiving treatment at a hospital in Bhubaneswar. He passed away at 11 pm last night.” Alongside his son, Nilamadhav, his daughters and wife were by his side during his final moments.

Ulaka had been ailing for several days and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Throughout his political career, Ulaka served as a seven-time MLA from Bishmaktak and held various ministerial portfolios, including Home, Forest, Excise, Urban Development, and Water and Sanitation. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and son.

It is reported that his body will be first taken to the Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and then transported to his residence in Bankili, Rayagada district.

Born in 1937 in Kalyansinghpur, Rayagada district, Ulaka was the son of the renowned politician Shyam Khan Ulaka and Yashoda Ulaka.
