Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 13: Vigilance officials today arrested Tara Prasad Mishra, the former Chief Engineer of Roads & Building (Civil), for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
During the operation, which involved 12 DSPs, 12 Inspectors, 16 ASIs, and additional staff, officials discovered substantial assets in Mishra’s possession. These included 10 high-value flats in Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda, seven expensive plots, 2.555 kg of gold, 370 grams of diamonds, over ₹2.70 crore in deposits, ₹6 lakh in cash, and two luxury cars, including a Mercedes Benz.
The searches, conducted under search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, took place across nine locations in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Jharsuguda.
Mishra could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the assets registered under his and his family members’ names. Consequently, the anti-graft department has filed a case and arrested him. He is scheduled to be presented in court later today.
