Gajapati couple brutally killed, police seek clues in suspicious deaths

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 7: A couple was reportedly murdered in Tunguru village, under the R Udaygiri police limits in Gajapati district. The victims, Chaitanya Mandal and his wife Urjani, were found dead under suspicious circumstances. The couple had been living in a small hut on a hill.

According to sources, the murders occurred on Tuesday night. One body was discovered inside the hut, while the other was found at a distance. Authorities suspect that the killings may be related to a past dispute. Chaitanya was known for using herbs and other substances to treat illnesses, which some locals perceived as witchcraft. The exact motive behind the murders remains unclear.

Upon receiving the report, police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. “We have not yet uncovered any clues. No formal complaint has been made by the couple’s son. A forensic team has examined the site, and further investigation is ongoing,” said Sabyasachi Malla, IIC of R Udaygiri police station.
