ganja seized: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen),  Oct 7: Sleuths from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized over 800 kg of ganja from a fruit-laden truck heading to Bhubaneswar near the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border at Krishnavaram. Acting on a tip-off, DRI officials intercepted the truck and arrested three individuals involved in the operation. The consignment, which weighed more than 808 kg, is valued at ₹1.62 crore.

According to sources, the DRI had received intelligence about a large quantity of cannabis being transported from Andhra Pradesh to Bhubaneswar in a truck disguised as a fruit shipment. DRI officials were strategically positioned at the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border on Sunday night to monitor the situation.

When DRI officials attempted to stop the truck and an accompanying car, the smugglers attempted to flee. However, officials pursued and successfully intercepted both vehicles at the Krishnavaram check-gate. Upon inspection, they discovered packets containing more than 808 kg of cannabis. The DRI has confiscated both the truck and the car and has initiated an investigation into the matter.
