Governor Raghubar Das addresses inaugural session of 17th Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 22: On Monday, Governor Raghubar Das addressed the inaugural session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly.

In his speech, the Governor emphasized that the government is committed to the all-round development of the state, with a focus on Odia Asmita. He stated, “My government is dedicated to advancing Odisha to new heights through vigilant, transparent, and sensitive governance, keeping Odia Asmita at the core.”

Aligning with the national vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, the Governor highlighted the significance of achieving a “Viksit Odisha” to drive national progress in the Amrit Kal. He assured, “With the blessings of Aradhya Prabhu Shri Jagannath and the support of the people, my government is determined to work tirelessly to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of every Odia.”

The Governor announced plans to address employment needs by filling 1.5 lakh vacant posts, with 65,000 positions to be filled within the next two years. Additionally, he outlined initiatives under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to build 10 lakh houses in rural areas and 5 lakh houses in urban areas.

He also mentioned the establishment of counseling centers in schools, starting career counseling from Class IX, and the launch of a new sports policy aimed at improving infrastructure for athletes from the village level up.

To ensure security, three-layer security arrangements have been implemented around the state assembly for the session, which will run until September 13.
