Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 12: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that heavy rain is expected to resume in Odisha starting Tuesday, August 13, and is likely to continue for the next four days. The IMD also noted the presence of two cyclonic circulations: one over Jharkhand and its vicinity, and another over eastern Bangladesh and surrounding areas.
The weather agency has issued a warning for thunderstorms with lightning in several districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, until 8:30 am on Tuesday.
For August 13, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are anticipated in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Bargarh. On August 14, similar conditions are expected in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, and Sambalpur. By August 15, heavy rainfall is likely in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, and Nabarangpur. The forecast for August 16 includes heavy rainfall in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Gajapati.
On August 17, heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) may impact some districts in North Odisha. Although there are no warnings beyond this date, light to moderate rain and thundershowers may continue in various parts of the state.
