Heavy Rainfall Expected Due to Depression, SRC Alerts District Collectors

Bhubaneswar, (Reporters Pen): Due to the impact of the depression, heavy rainfall is expected in various parts of the state from today until September 2nd. The meteorological department has issued an Orange Alert for three districts and a Yellow Alert for six districts for Sunday.

The districts under the Orange Alert are Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur, where heavy rainfall is anticipated. Additionally, a Yellow Warning has been issued for the six districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati. The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has instructed district collectors to remain vigilant to handle any potential situations. Due to the rough sea conditions, fishermen have been advised against venturing into deep waters.

On the other hand, the highest rainfall recorded today was 17.0 mm in Daringbadi. Other notable rainfall figures include 14.2 mm in Koraput, 11.2 mm in Dhenkanal, 10.0 mm in Nayagarh, 9.0 mm in Paralakhemundi, 8.0 mm in Cuttack, 6.2 mm in Gopalpur, 5.0 mm in Khordha, 4.8 mm in Malkangiri, 4.6 mm in Angul, 3.1 mm in Puri, 3.0 mm in Nabarangpur, 2.4 mm in Jagatsinghpur, 2.3 mm in Bhubaneswar, 2.2 mm in Paradip, 2.0 mm each in Chhatrapur, Kendrapada, and Boudh, 1.0 mm each in Chandbali and Bhadrak, and 0.4 mm in Jharsuguda. Bhawanipatna recorded the lowest at 0.2 mm.

I would also like to inform you that it has been raining continuously in various districts of the state today. The heavy rain has impacted public life, with many agricultural fields being flooded, increasing the concerns of farmers. If this heavy rainfall continues, farmers are worried that their paddy crops might be damaged.
