Higher Education Minister inaugurates 14 new Degree Colleges

Bhubaneswar, (Repoterspen), Aug 9: Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj today inaugurated 14 new Government Degree colleges across eight districts of the State.

The virtual inauguration, conducted via video conferencing, covered locations including Tiring in Mayurbhanj, Thuamul Rampur in Kalahandi, Gurundia and Nuagaon in Sundargarh, Bandhugaon and Narayanpatna in Koraput, Jharigaon, Kosagumuda, Raighar, and Tentulikhunti in Nabarangpur, Kashipur and Ramanaguda in Rayagada, Dharakote in Ganjam, and Khajuripada in Kandhamal.

During the ceremony, Minister Suraj emphasized that education is a key tool for youth empowerment and societal transformation. He expressed confidence that these new colleges in remote areas will enhance educational opportunities, reduce dropout rates, and generate greater interest in higher education.

Arvind Agarwal, Commissioner cum Secretary of the Higher Education Department, noted that this expansion brings education closer to students in Odisha’s remote regions. He congratulated the students and encouraged them to work diligently. Bonai MLA Laxman Munda and Lakhmipur MLA Pabitra Saunta joined the virtual event, praising the initiative as a groundbreaking step in education. The new principals and students also shared their gratitude and experiences during the inauguration.
