IMD predicts heavy downpours across Odisha for next four days

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 5: After a brief decrease in rainfall intensity, Odisha is expected to experience heavy downpours over the next four days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Monday. In its midday bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar forecasted light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers across most parts of the state for the coming week.

The IMD issued a yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning for 16 districts over the next 24 hours. The affected districts are Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Bargarh, and Jharsuguda.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning may occur at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, and Koraput.

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is likely at one or two places in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, and Sambalpur. Heavy rain (7 to 11 cm) may occur at one or two places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Sonepur, Deogarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Rayagada.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) is likely at one or two places in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Bargarh.
