low pressure : Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 21: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Saturday that several regions of Odisha are expected to experience heavy rain next week, as a new low-pressure system is forming over the Bay of Bengal. An upper air cyclonic circulation is currently situated over the west-central Bay of Bengal, extending to mid-tropospheric levels, while another circulation is present over northern Thailand and its surroundings, likely moving west-northwestward.
According to the IMD, a low-pressure area is anticipated to develop over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around September 23, influenced by these cyclonic circulations.
In its midday weather bulletin, the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issued a yellow warning for the next 24 hours, predicting thunderstorms with lightning in isolated areas of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapada.
