low pressure: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that several parts of Odisha are likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in the next 24 hours, despite the weakening of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. The low-pressure system, previously located over the northern Bay of Bengal and adjacent coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal, has diminished in intensity. However, a cyclonic circulation associated with this weather pattern remains active over northern Gangetic West Bengal and nearby regions.

Additionally, an upper-air cyclonic circulation is present over the west-central Bay of Bengal, off the Andhra Pradesh coast. According to a bulletin from the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers are expected in various districts, including coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh until Sunday.

Moreover, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are predicted to occur at isolated locations in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapada. The weather agency has issued a yellow warning for these districts, advising residents to take necessary precautions.
