Maoist killed in gunbattle with security forces in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Maoist: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 21: A Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire with security personnel in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Thursday. The encounter took place near MV-79 Jindalguda, close to the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. According to sources, the incident occurred when security forces were alerted about attempts by a group of Maoists to cross into Odisha from the neighboring state.

As the security personnel reached the border area, they came into direct confrontation with the Maoists, triggering a fierce gunbattle that lasted for over two hours. During the exchange, one Maoist was shot dead, while the remaining members of the group fled the scene.

A jawan sustained bullet injuries during the gunfight and was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Malkangiri for medical treatment. Following the encounter, security forces have intensified search operations in the region to track down the fleeing Maoists and ensure the safety of the area. The identity of the slain Maoist has not been disclosed yet.
