Bhubaneswar, (Reportespen), Aug 19: Amid the Raksha Bandhan celebrations, a shocking incident in Odisha has disturbed the festive atmosphere. A minor boy allegedly stabbed his cousin sister to death, sending shockwaves across the state.
The incident occurred in the seventh lane under Bada Bazaar police limits in Berhampur. The deceased has been identified as Prajukta Panigrahi (13), while the accused is Asutosh Panigrahi (14).
Sources report that Prajukta and her family had visited a relative’s house for a death anniversary ceremony when the attack happened. Without warning, Asutosh allegedly attacked Prajukta and her cousin brother Ayushman with a knife. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Prajukta succumbed to her injuries, while Ayushman suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he is in critical condition. The accused fled the scene following the incident.
