Navy officer missing: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 22: An Indian Navy officer from Odisha’s Ganjam district, Saurabh Kumar Patra, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. The 25-year-old officer, a resident of Gate Bazar in Berhampur, reportedly disappeared on January 19 while traveling to report for duty at the Kochi Naval Base.

Saurabh, who joined the Navy in 2019, had been on vacation in Berhampur since December 28. On Sunday, he boarded a train to Visakhapatnam, intending to catch a flight to Kochi and resume his responsibilities as an Acting Leading Communicator at INS Garuda. However, he did not reach his destination.

Family members discovered that Saurabh’s mobile phone was switched off, with its last recorded location in Visakhapatnam. Despite extensive searches, contacting relatives, and inquiring with the Kochi Naval Base, no information about his whereabouts has surfaced.

A complaint was filed by Saurabh’s uncle, Amulya Jena, at Berhampur Town police station on Wednesday. Fearing he may have been kidnapped, the family has appealed to the police and Navy authorities to intensify their search efforts. The incident has left the family distressed, with investigations underway to unravel the circumstances behind his disappearance.
