Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 30: A newborn boy went missing from the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Rajsunakhala in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Saturday, sparking alarm among the family and local authorities. Sudhismita Parida of Godabhanga village was admitted to the hospital by her husband, Bijay Parida, on Friday after experiencing labor pains. She gave birth to a baby boy on Saturday morning, but the infant vanished shortly after delivery.

When Sudhismita’s family arrived to see the newborn, they were shocked to discover he was missing. Following this alarming turn of events, Bijay and his wife lodged a complaint at the local police station, alleging that their baby had been stolen from the hospital.

Bijay accused the hospital staff of negligence, stating, “We were not allowed to see the baby after birth. When we inquired, they claimed he was taken for treatment, but we could not locate him thereafter.” The police have since reviewed CCTV footage from the hospital and are questioning staff members to uncover the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.

This incident echoes a similar case reported at VIMSAR in Burla, Sambalpur district, raising serious concerns about the safety of newborns in medical facilities.
