NMC approves 50 MBBS seats for Jajati Keshari Medical College in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 18: Another medical college in Odisha has received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to offer 50 MBBS seats for the academic year 2024-25. Official sources confirmed that the NMC has granted permission for admissions at the new Government Medical College and Hospital, Jajpur, starting from the upcoming academic session.

The Letter of Permission (LoP) has been issued by the NMC, marking the establishment of the 12th government Medical College and Hospital (MCH) in the state and the first operational one this year.
This development increases the total number of government medical colleges in Odisha to 12, providing a cumulative total of 1,600 MBBS seats across the state, sources indicated.

Located in Ankula on the outskirts of Jajpur, the MCH, named Jajati Keshari Medical College and Hospital, has been constructed at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 400 crore. It will utilize the existing 420-bed district headquarters hospital as its teaching hospital. Currently, 125 faculty members, including professors, associate professors, assistant professors, senior residents, and tutors, have already joined the MCH, according to sources.
