Nuakhai celebrations highlighted by greetings from President, Union Minister, and CM

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 8: Western Odisha is alive with celebration as the region observes the Nuakhai festival. President Droupadi Murmu conveyed her greetings, highlighting the festival as a time to show appreciation for farmers. She wished for happiness and prosperity for all through her X post: “Nuakhai festival is an occasion to express gratitude to the farmers of the country. May this festival bring happiness and prosperity in everyone’s life.”

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, also the MP from Sambalpur, shared his Nuakhai wishes on X: “I pray to Lord Shree Jagannath and Maa Samlei for good health, happiness, prosperity, and progress for all.”

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his greetings via Twitter: “Wishing everyone prosperity and happiness on this auspicious day and praying for the welfare of the world.”

The Chief Minister is set to visit Sambalpur to launch the CM Kisan Yojana and participate in ‘Nuakhai Bhetghat’ events, including offering prayers at Maa Samaleswari temple at 12:30 PM.

The Odisha government has declared September 9 an additional holiday in celebration of Nuakhai. All government, government-aided, and private schools, as well as banks and other financial institutions, will be closed. Odisha Police has also granted a one-day Nuakhai leave to its lower-ranked personnel stationed in western Odisha.
