OCA: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 13: Veteran sports promoter and industrialist Pankaj Lochan Mohanty has filed his nomination for the post of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) president. The position has remained vacant since the resignation of BJD leader and former minister Pranab Prakash Das last year.
Currently serving as the vice-president of OCA, Mohanty is the only candidate to have submitted a nomination for the top post so far, sources said. If no other nominations are filed, he is likely to be elected unopposed.
According to the OCA, the scrutiny of nominations will take place on February 14, and candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations on February 15. The election of the new president will be conducted during OCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on February 24.
Das was elected as OCA president in 2022 but stepped down in December last year, leaving the position open.
Mohanty had previously served as the OCA president from 2019 to 2022. After Das’s resignation, there was speculation that BJP leader and former MLA Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra could be in the race for the post, but no confirmation has been made.
