Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 23: Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, the elected MLA from Talsara constituency in Sundergarh district, has filed his nomination for the position of Deputy Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. He submitted his papers at the office of the Assembly Secretary.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in Odisha has nominated Bhoi for this role. He filed his nomination in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singhdeo and Pravati Parida, along with other ministers.
Bhoi, who is serving his second term as MLA, was first elected in 2019 and was recently re-elected in the 2024 polls from Talsara on a BJP ticket. In the latest elections, he secured victory over Binaya Kumar Toppo of the BJD by a margin of 17,189 votes.
