Bhubaneswar, (Reporerspen), Aug 22: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday affirmed that the state government will continue its health insurance scheme for working journalists.
In a written response to a query by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati during the Assembly session, the Chief Minister assured that the Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana will be maintained and that the renewal of health cards will be completed promptly.
The renewal process for the health insurance scheme, which is currently under review, will be finalized before the existing cards expire on August 31, 2024. The Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana, which has been in place since 2018, provides health insurance coverage to working journalists and their families in Odisha.
Typically, journalists receive renewed cards each August before the current insurance period ends. However, the renewal process for this year has not yet begun due to recent changes in the government.
