Odisha DGP conducts ground review following violence in Bhadrak

Odisha DGP: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 1: On Tuesday, Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania visited Bhadrak and Dhamnagar to assess the situation following recent violence triggered by a Facebook post in the district. Accompanied by senior officials, including the Bhadrak District Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP), Khurania urged residents to refrain from engaging with social media and to disregard any rumors circulating online.

After conducting a thorough review, the DGP called for maintaining law and order, assuring the public that there was no cause for panic. He emphasized the importance of not reacting impulsively to social media posts and advised against making unnecessary comments.

Khurania affirmed that the police are taking all necessary measures to ensure public safety and that the situation in the violence-affected areas is steadily improving. Following his visits to Dhamnagar and surrounding areas, he also reviewed conditions in Bhadrak.

While life is gradually returning to normal in both Dhamnagar and Bhadrak, internet services remain suspended throughout the district until tonight. Additionally, preventive measures under Section 163 have been enacted in Bhadrak Town, Dhamnagar, and Dobal, advising residents to avoid gatherings, rallies, and meetings in these areas.
