Odisha Government: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 25: The Odisha government has announced that paddy procurement from farmers will conclude on March 31, 2025, as per the fixed deadline for this year’s procurement cycle. Farmers have been urged to ensure that their paddy is ready and delivered before this date to avoid exclusion from the process.

Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra stated on Tuesday that the move aligns with the state government’s strategy to efficiently manage paddy procurement and ensure timely distribution. He emphasized that adhering to the deadline is crucial for smooth operations.

So far, the state government has successfully collected around 6.5 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, achieving over 90% of the targeted procurement. Officials have assured farmers that all necessary arrangements have been made at procurement centers to facilitate seamless transactions.

Meanwhile, concerns over irregularities have surfaced, leading to the suspension of two officials on February 16 for alleged mismanagement and negligence at a mandi in Machhagaon, Balikuda block, Jagatsinghpur district. The government has reiterated its commitment to a fair and transparent procurement process, warning against any misconduct.
